Flag of Aydın

The flag of Aydın (photo, photo) is blue with the municipality's emblem. "T.C." stands for "Türkiye Cumhuriyeti", "Republic of Turkey". "Büyükşehir Belediyesi" means "Aydın Municipality". The municipality successively used three sets of flags mostly differing by the font used for the lettering.

Aydınspor 1923 (Aydın Spor 1923 Kulübü) was established in 1923 as Aydın Belediyespor, managed by the municipality of Aydın. In 2009, the most famous club of the town, Aydınspor, winded up after getting bankrupted. Aydın Belediyespor was renamed as Aydınspor 1923 and adopted Aydınspor's emblem and colours.

Adnan Menderes UIniversity

Adnan Menderes University (Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi - ADÜ; website) was established in 1992 in Aydın. The university is named for the politician Adnan Menderes (1899-1961, born in Koçarlı, Aydın Province), Prime Minister from 1950 to 1960, executed in 1961 by the military junta and rehabilitated in 1990 by the Turkish Parliament.
ADÜ is made of 19 Faculties, 3 Institutes, 6 Colleges and 16 Vocational Schools. The university has campuses in Aydın, Kuşadası, Nazilli and Söke.
