Coat of Arms

from Facebook

The council informed me the coat of arms of Cuerámaro was adopted in November 1969 and designed by Dr. Horacio Olmedo Canchola, based on a coat of arms designed in 1955 for the Museum of Alhóndiga de Granaditas in Guanajuato city, unpublished. Under the shield, there is a white ribbon that reads "SIEMPRE CUERAMARO FIEL" [Always Cueramaro Loyal]. Above the shield is a Phrygian cap for the Liberal spirit, and carries the word "LIBERTAD" [Liberty]. The shield is divided into four sections and has a circle in the center. The upper-left section depicts a valley by the mountains with the sun over it, having a sheaf of wheat for its tall wheatfields as written about historically. The upper-right section depicts two hands, one of an Indian with a spiked bat and the other of a white man signifying their conquest by faith. The lower-left section depicts a shovel over an open book, symbolizing the modern Cueramaro resident in work and culture. The lower-right section depicts a field full of corn plants, one being bigger than the rest signifying the authorities, and the others signifying the rest of the residents as an agricultural working region. In the center, an ahuehuete tree planted on 27 September 1961 to commemorate the centenary of Independence, with the mountains in the background.
