Waldenburg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale of Argent and Gules an impending tower in counterchanged tinctures, with saddle roof flanked by two supported turrets and surrounded by a hexagonal wall masoned Sable.
Meaning:
The Lords of Waldenburg as imperial commisssionaires built a castle around 1170 near a ford over the Mulde River. The castle became their ancestral seat and the origin of local forest clearance. The lordship was sold to the Lords of Schönburg finally in 1378. The tower already appeared on city seals from the 15th century. The tinctures are those of the Schönburg kin.
