Heidenheim Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a pagan's torso issuant, bearded Argent, dressed Azure with collar and buttons Argent and wearing a turban Argent topped by a jelly bag cap Azure, ending in a ball Or.
Meaning:
Heidenheim was considered to be a market town since the 14th century. The settlement developed near the namesake Benedictine Abbey, which existed since 752 and was secularised in 1537. Since then the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach ruled the town. Their predecessors, the Burgraves of Nürnberg had been the reeves of the abbey before. Prints of town seals existed since 1556, already displaying the canting bearded pagan (German: Heide), which had actually been a Turk. Arms didn't exist before the 19th century. The current tinctures are based on a painting of Otto Hupp (1925). Former patterns of the pagan were identical to the former pattern of Heidenheim upon Brenz. The only difference before 1925 had been the circumscriptions on local seals.
