Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a Marian crown Azure, flanked on dexter chief and sinister base by a pair of rye ears Vert, on dexter base and sinister chief by a hazelnut twig Vert fruited Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "AVELÃS DE AMBOM".
Meaning:
The crown is an attribute of Our Lady of Conception, the local patron saint. Twigs and ears are symbolising agriculture. The twigs of hazelnut (Portuguese: avelã) are furthermore canting elements.

Avelãs de Ambom was one of the 18 communes of Guarda Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 69 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 7,54 km².

Rocamondo was one of the 18 communes of Guarda Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 89 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 5,79 km².
