United Netherlands Navigation Co. Correct name Vereenigde Nederlandsche
Scheepvaartmaatschappij N.V. and this edition of Stewart apparently shows
red instead of the correct orange, probably as a result of printing restrictions,
and is not the only one with others showing it as yellow for the same reason.

Holland West-Afrika Lijn (Holland West Africa Line) belonged to the
N.V. Vereenigde Nederlandsche Scheepvaart Maatschappij, with houseflag:
two equally wide horizontal stripes of Red and Blue; overall a white diamond
charged with black capitals HWAL.
Source: "The dumpy book of ships and the sea" (ed. Henry Sampson, published
by Sampson Low, London, circa 1957).

Holland West-Africa Lijn was a joint service operated by Vereenigde
Nederlandsche Scheepvaart-Maatschappij N.V. and Hollandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij
N.V., the latter appearing to withdraw around the mid 1960s. By the beginning
of the 1970s they are no longer shown in Lloyds though it appears that
the constituent companies used their own vessels in the service so it may
have continued. Although book sources show the flag as displayed, the flag
at the Josef
Nüsse's site has a different lettering style.
