The original Norwegian blazon as appearing in the royal resolution: I
hermelin et rødt skjoldhode.
The
municipal site also includes an explanation further then the fur production.
The hermelin is linked to kings, who were linked with Agdenes. The red chief is
said to represent strawberries (still an important industry of Agdenes), while
other interpret it as the blood from the axe of Eric Bloodaxe (i.e. 10th century
king Eric Haraldsson)
