Presentation of Trégueux

Trégueux (8,470 inhabitants in 2020; 1,457 ha) is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany in northwestern France, near Saint-Brieuc, between Ploufragan and Langueux.

In 460, Fragan, chief of insular Brittany crosses the Channel to settle in Armorican Brittany with his wife Gwenn, his sons Guethenoc and Jacut and a small suite. He goes up the Gouët, and settles on the current territory of the city of Ploufragan to which it owes its name (Plou Fracan). His son Guethenoc will give his name to Langueux which was still called in the thirteenth century Lan-Guethenoc and to Trégueux (Tre-Guethenoc).

The coat of arms is blazonned: Tierced per fess, first azure two cinquefoils Or, second ermine plain, third gules a cinquefoil Or.
