Ploufragan (11,487 inhabitants in 2020; 2,706 ha) is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany in northwestern France, near Saint-Brieuc.

Coat of arms and logo of Ploufragan

The current logo was created in january 2016 (source, source). Marion Bouder, agent in the communication department until May 2015, had proposed a new logo. Anne Marlier, also from the communication department, took over the case. The two agents were inspired by the shape of the territory of Ploufragan (which can make think of a drop of water or a triangle with rounded angles) to arrive at a triangle in volume, representing four zones of the territory (the city center, the districts, the technopole, and natural parts).

Ploufragan's first logo, the Triangle, was created in-house in 1990 (three colors: green for agricultural activity, blue for high technology, red for dynamism and conviviality). This triangular logo was adapted in March 2007, still internally: in the new version, the lines in the triangle were replaced by a plain field of light blue.

The first coat of arms was created in 1981: Azure three escallops argent, a chief gules three mascles in fess Or. It is based on the coat of arms of the Lords of Fort-Morel and La Salle, landowners in Ploufragan.
