From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
The arms were granted on February 2, 1966. The chief shows the arms of the State of Würzburg, as the bishops of Würzburg held many estates in the county. The lower right half shows the arms of the Von Limpurg family. These also had some estates in the county. The two lions in the lower left half are the arms of the Counts of Hohenlohe, who held most of the estates prior to the Von Limpurg family.Literature: Stadler 1964-1972.
