The flag of NK Varteks (Nogometni klub Varteks), a football club from
Varaždin, is orange with the badge centered.
NK Varteks was founded in
2011 by fans of the original NK Varteks (the club bore that name between 1958
and 2010) who were dissatisfied with the decision to change the club's name to
NK Varaždin.
Varteks was a Croatian company based in Varaždin. It was engaged
in the production of fashion textile products, the retail of textile goods, and
the manufacture of fabrics. Varteks was formed in its current shape in 1948
through the nationalization of the joint-stock company Tekstilna industrija
Varaždin (Tivar). Tivar itself had been founded on November 1, 1918, as a
joint-stock company established by Czech industrialists and Croatian merchants.
Varteks's collapse became inevitable in May 2024, and the
company is soon to enter bankruptcy. Attempts were made to revive production,
but ultimately, the company ceased to exist for good. Today, the Varteks name
lives on only through sports clubs.
