Presentation of Ehrenberg

Georges Ehrenberg, a charterer based in Le Havre, let build in 1896 the three-master Jacques (photos), which capsized on 21 May 1897, trashing its masts on the wharf. The ship was sold in 1912 to the Compagnie Générale des Îles Kerguelen, Saint Paul et Amsterdam, founded in Le Havre by René and Henry Boissière; in 1913, the Jacques transported 1,000 sheep from the Falkland Islands to the Kerguelen Islands, where the attempt of establishing sheep breeding failed.
Ehrenberg subsequently purchased the Eugénie Fautrel, the François, the Jean and the Max.
Ehrenberg withdrew from maritime business in 1912.
