Hengersberg Coat of Arms

Shield Argent; on central peak of a triplemount issuant Vert a flower Azure seeded Or, leafed and stemmed Vert, issuant from top edge a cloud Argent with sun beams Or.
Meaning:
The market town belonged to the Benedictine Niederalteich Monastery. Paintings from the 16th century thus simply displayed the triplemount from the arms of the monastery with additional lozenges on chief, symbolising the cognisance of the Dukes of Bayern. In 1811 the Bavarian National Guard issued the arms of the city of Landsberg upon Lech as town arms of Hengersberg. They were replaced by the current pattern on the pretext that it had been used by the town under the rule of the monastery. In fact it had been the personal arms of Abbot Joscio Hamberger (1700 - 1739), which had been erroneously be pretexted as town arms in 1701. In the current version the cloud is realised as white and the background as light grey.
