The Band

The AhNiYvWiYa Tribe is an unrecognized tribe in Missouri. The AhNiYvWiYa Tribe is now a home of people directly descended from this bloodline, who have never given up the Old and Traditional Ways of our Ancestors. This Ancient Culture has survived intact, thru many hardships and battles throughout time. It was told long ago in the Prophesies of Our People, that when we reached the "Great Body Of Water" (The Mississippi River); that those who crossed it and never returned to the Old Ways would become lost forever; but those that stayed would continue to be the AhNiGuTaNi ( The Ancient Ones). So, as the Trail of Tears came to the river crossings in the frozen winter of 1838-1839, those who would follow the Old Ways would escape the camps at night and follow Crowleys Ridge to the swamps in Southeast Missouri. There they re-gathered, hid and lived undetected for many years, keeping alive ALL of the Ancient Culture, Language, Ceremonies, and Traditions. All of this Sacred Knowledge has never been lost to us and still thrives, in its un-changed form, with our Tribe and People to this day. Even though we may come from mixed and different bloodlines, our Tribal members choose to only follow the Ways of the Traditional AhNiYvWiYa Path, not mixed nor changed. https://ahniyvwiya.org/
