"The Moorings Club, a private, member-owned yacht and country club community, anchors the southern end of Indian River County on the barrier island known as John's Island in South Florida. They were essentially tossed into the eye of the storm after extensive hurricane damage from two consecutive hurricanes - within two weeks of each other in September 2004 - damaged their clubhouse so severely that it had to be torn down. . . . Club memberships grew from 700 before the storms to more than 950 memberships after the new clubhouse was completed and food and beverage revenues jumped from $900,000/year to $2.5 million.
