Description of the flag

The Barnegat Inlet Yacht Club is a bit of a mystery. Their website at http://www.biyc.net doesn't tell you all that much about them. The actual "Barnegat Inlet, is of course a stretch of water, so it's not very practical as a yacht harbour, though parts of it are less than 5 foot deep, so if there is a problem in rafting up, it wouldn't be that the skippers couldn't reach one another. The club was founded in 1980, according to the Yachting Club of America members list.

The light in the burgee is, of course, Barnegat Light House. As far as I can make out, Barnegat Light is indeed the home harbour of the club. But that isn't to say that they are the Barnegat Light Yacht Club: That's a different yacht club, slightly further south.
