Description of the flag

The flag has yellow, blue, red and white stripes. The yellow and white symbolizes the colors of the Vatican City and the parish's identification with the Roman Catholic Church. The blue and white stripes symbolize the early French explorers, traders and missionaries who brought the Catholic Faith to Indiana and symbolizes the parish's identification with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The red and white stripes are the colors of the former Sacred Heart High School. Together the colors represent the parish's local, diocesan and international connections to the Catholic Church. The crossed arms against a cross is a traditional Franciscan symbol. One of the arms is that of St Francis of Assisi. The other arm is that of Jesus Christ. Both bear the wounds of the stigmata. The red cross-over-heart represents the patronage of the parish, that is, the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
