The seal consists of four main objects, The first is the Pleasant County
Courthouse, as St. Marys serves as it's county seat. A variety of industrial
buildings like Silos, Water Towers, Smokestacks, and warehouses represent the
industrial history of St. Marys. The third is a suspended bridge, this is very
strange as the city does not have a suspended bridge, it did have one and it was
known as the "Saint Marys Suspension Bridge". The bridge was demolished in 1971,
and was replaced by the Hi Carpenter Memorial Bridge, a cantilever bridge. The
fourth is a steam locomotive, this represents the railroad which goes straight
through the middle of the town. The town and state name are inscripted at the
bottom with the year "1849" underneath.
