City of Kalama gets new logo, flag, statements

The Kalama City Council accepted a new logo, flag and mission and vision statements for the city presented by a branding committee Thursday. The 10-member volunteer committee designed the logo and wrote the statements over the past few months. More than 280 Kalama residents, both inside and outside city limits, chose between two logos and mission and vision statements in a survey held last month.

The new logo, featuring a totem pole and a salmon on a teal background, was accepted as the flag. In its 128-year history the city hasn’t had a flag. Hillary Elliot is a graphic designer who volunteered to help design the new logo along with another graphic designer. She said the main concept of the seal was always the same, but there was a lot of input and collaboration to come up with the final product.
