Description: The shape of the flag is the same as the State of Ohio Flag, of which PIB is part of. The P-(monument)-B is used by many PIB establishments and business's and is instantly recognized and identified with Put-In-Bay. The white
letters reflect the white monument. The sky is blue of course as it seems the weather patterns around the island seems to separate storms occasionally and keep the skies blue. The green represents the lush nature of the island despite the bedrock it is made of (limestone/dolomite). The Sun and Moon in the corner describes that the island is quite alive and active both day and Night, and along with the blue sky often sparkles or illuminates the Bay. The grapes and Vines celebrate the current as well as history of wine making on the island. The Brig Niagara can be seen sailing into the basic oval shape of the bay returning from the west from its successful battle. The view of the Bay being that which you would see from the monument top. The monument was placed on the "hoist" section of the flag because it has the least motion and hence represents the steadfast nature of this monument and beacon. The water and Brig/ship were placed on the fly end of the flag to replicate the movement of the waves and the ship sailing into the bay.
