Description of the flag

From an article at https://pasoroblesdailynews.com/city-adopts-new-flag-celebrate-125th-anniversary/9126/:

After rejecting an earlier design on Oct. 15, the Paso Robles City Council on Tuesday approved an updated city flag design to celebrate the city’s 125th Anniversary on March 11, 2014.

After the Oct. 15 rejection, five new city flag designs were distributed to a design committee for review. One of the five designs emerged as the clear favorite, receiving 20 out of 26 votes. Those voting represented a variety of community organizations and businesses, including the Historical Society, Pioneer Day Committee, Pioneer Museum, Paso Robles Main Street Association, Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce, Paso Robles Joint Union School District, Friends of the Paso Robles Library, Hispanic Business Association, Paso Robles Library Foundation, Senior Citizen Advisory Committee, Kennedy Club Fitness and the Paso Robles Press.

The stock of eleven current city flags will be distributed among local history groups for their archives, included in a City time capsule during anniversary festivities, and offered as silent auction items at the anniversary kick-off gala on December 31, 2013 – funds to benefit the 125th committee and, ultimately, local history groups.

Both the previous and new flag feature a tree, which can undoubtedly be identified as an oak, the town's name meaning in Spanish "The Pass of the Oaks"; "roble", derived from Latin "robur", is used in Spanish to name different species of oaks, including:
- Quercus robur L. (common oak / pedunculate oak / European oak/ English oak): roble común / roble carballo / roble fresnal;
- Quercus petrae (Matt.) Liebl. (sessile oak / Cornish oak / durmast oak): roble albar / roble del invierno:
- Quercus humilis Mill. (downy oak / pubescent oak): roble pubescente;
- Quercus rubra L. (northern red oak / champion oak): roble rojo americano / roble boreal rojo americano / roble rojo del Norte.
