Overview

The Lugansk People's Republic (Russian: Луганская народная республика) was an unrecognized republic, proclaimed on April 28 2014 by pro-Russian protesters.

The republic was, according to its pro-Russian founders, a sovereign country which was supposed to build relations with other countries in line with international law. They planed to confirm sovereignty at an oblast referendum. Long-range aim is the union of the other two people's republics (Donetsk, Kharkov) and the establishment of a sovereign state "Novorossija".

Lugansk Republic had a flag which is similar to flag of Donetsk Republic, but upper stripe is light blue, and the central shield on Russian silver eagle is a yellow shield taken from Lugansk coat of arms depicting two black smokestacks with flames, supported by a black hammer right and left. Inscription is Lugansk Republic on light blue and red stripes.

The Luhansk People's Republic, also known as Lugansk People's Republic (Luganskaya Narodnaya Respublika), is a landlocked proto-state in the Luhansk Oblast in the Donbass region, in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine's legislation describes the area as a 'temporarily occupied territory' and its government as an "occupying administration of the Russian Federation".

In the photo is a picture of Leonid Pasechnik. the "leader" the self-declared "Lugansk/Luhansk People's Republic", located in eastern Ukraine. I believe that behind him is a large white-field flag of that break-away province; c. 27 March 2022.

Severodonetsk started to develop a coat of arms and flag shortly after the start of its occupation by Russian forces in 2022. A city-wide vote was held, and a draft of the symbols was sent to the Heraldic Council of the President of the Russian Federation. The heraldic council refined the draft and sent it back to the administration for approval. The administration unanimously approved the symbols in February 2024, which contain a peregrine falcon standing on a running industrial chimney.
The coat of arms comes in two versions, one with a golden crown and another without.
Daniel Rentería, 24 February 2024

"A city-wide vote was held ...". Were there any inhabitants left for such undertaking, or was this merely the occupiers asking for approval of their occupation?
