Flag of Palandöken

The flag of Palandöken (photo) is celestial blue with the municipality's emblem. The former flag of Palandöken was white with the municipality's former emblem (image). "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The emblem of the municipality features a snow flake symbolizing the Palandöken ski resort. The former emblem featured a more explicit representation of the ski resort.

Erzurum is the coldest town in Turkey. Palandöken, the Turkish "Little Siberia", has winter temperatures falling down nightly to -30 °C. A thick snow cover is present from November to May. The ski resort is located in the village of Başköy at en elevation of 1,800 m while the top of the mountains reaches 3,200 m. While the Turkish skiers prefer the resorts of the western part of the country, Palandöken is particularly prized by Russian, Ukrainian and Iranian customers fond of free ride.
