Zmeinogorskiy Rayon is one of 59 rayons in Altayskiy Kray. Its coat of arms and flag were adopted on 26.10.2012.

The rayon has 1 Town - Zmeinogorsk (with status of Urban Settlement) and 8 Village Councils: Baranovskiy, Karamyshevskiy, Kuz'minskiy, Nikol'skiy, Oktyabr'skiy, Savvushinskiy, Talovskiy, and Cherepanovskiy village council. None of the village councils have no official symbols, as far as I know.

The town of Zmeinogorsk was an independent city (City of Zmeinogorsk) until 2008, when it was united with Zmeinogorskiy Rayon with Urban Settlement status. Its previous coat of arms was in use 2003-2012.
