Three decrees from 1950 and 1951 established the Romanian military colors, flags and emblems of that times:
Decree nr. 189 from 28 July 1950, article 2, stated that:
"The military colors of the units of the Romanian Army are represented by three silk stripes: red, yellow and blue, arranged vertically, [with the] blue [stripe] near the hoist.Annex nr. 1 provided the exact design and dimensions of the military colors:
On margins, the flag has golden fringes and, attached to the exterior corners, golden tassels.
On obverse, in the middle, is the coat of arms of Romania, in natural colors.
Above the coat of arms, on the same side of the flag, in a curved line, is written with golden letters: "FOR OUR HOMELAND".
Under the coat of arms, on the same side of the flag, in a straight line, is written with golden letters: "THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF ROMANIA".
On reverse, in the middle, is the emblem on the Army officer's uniforms.
Under the emblem is written, in a straight line, with golden letters, the name of the unit.
The rod is finished with an ogive-like top, having a five-pointed star in the middle, with the letters RPR inscribed on it."
Decree nr. 189 from 28 July 1950, article 3, stated that:
"The ensign of the Air Force is a rectangular sky blue silk cloth. Each of the sides of the ensign has 18 red ray-like stripes.Annex nr. 2 provided the exact design and dimensions of the Air Force ensign:
On margins, the ensign has golden fringes and tassels like the flag on article 2.
On obverse, in the middle, is the coat of arms of Romania, and on reverse, in the middle, is the emblem on the Army officer's uniforms.
The coat of arms of Romania, the emblem and inscriptions are identical with the ones described on article 2.
The ensign described in this article has the design and dimensions provided in Annex nr. 2."
Decree nr. 189 from 28 July 1950, article 4, stated that:
"The Naval ensign is made of two rectangular silk stripes, [coloured] white and blue, arranged horizontally. The blue one is below, measuring 20 cm width and the white one is above, measuring 40 cm width.Annex nr. 3 provided the exact design and dimensions of the military colors:
On obverse, in the middle of the white stripe, is the coat of arms of Romania, in natural colors, and on reverse, in the middle, is the emblem on the Army officer's uniforms.
The coat of arms of Romania, the emblem, the inscriptions, fringes and tassels are identical with the ones described on article 2.
The flag described in this article has the design and dimensions provided in Annex nr. 3."
The Decree nr. 124 from 20 July 1951 established a new Naval ensign of Romania:
"The Naval ensign is made of a rectangular bunting cloth, having printed on both sides the colors white and blue, in two horizontal stripes: the blue one below and the white one above.The annex of the Decree provided the design and dimensions of this ensign. It had all its dimensions related to the length of the flag (L):
In the middle of the white stripe, on both sides, is the coat of arms of Romania, in natural colors. The ensign hasn't any fringes or tassels, but a line and a device for hoisting the ensign."
The Decree nr. 124 from 20 July 1951 established the Coast guard ensign of Romania:
"The Coast guard ensign is made of a rectangular bunting cloth, having printed on both sides the colors white and border-guard-green, in two horizontal stripes: the border-guard-green one below and the white one above.The annex of the Decree provided the design and dimensions of this ensign. It had all its dimensions related to the length of the flag (L):
In the middle of the white stripe, on both sides, is the coat of arms of Romania, in natural colors. The ensign hasn't any fringes or tassels, but a line and a device for hoisting the ensign."
Decree nr. 190 from 02 August 1950 describes, among others, the emblem on the Army officer's uniforms.
The diameter of the red star is 34 mm, the diameter of the yellow circle is 15 mm and the diameter of the blue circle is
11 mm. The letters in the middle are written with golden paint. On flags, this dimensions are kept proportionally.
