According to, blue represents the Pacific Ocean. White symbolizes peace. The four stars stand for the four islands forming Sonsorol. They represent the Southern Cross, used by our ancestors as their navigation guide to find our islands. The red canoe stands for the transportation means used to discover our islands and an important use in our every day lives.

The four islands are Pulo Anna (Puro), Meriil (Melieli), Fanna and Sonsorol (Dongosaro).
