Coat of arms

[Ventosa (Torres Vedras) commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta, 9 May 2017

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black upper case letters "VENTOSA - TORRES VEDRAS". Shield Vert a windmill wheel Sable with its sails Argent, in chief two bunches of grapes leafed Or and on a triangle Or issuant from base a bunch of grapes Purpure leafed Vert. A more suitable blazon would be to see the whole as parted per chevron Vert and Or, but, although attaining the same visual effect, that would be against art.12 §2 of the relevant Law no. 53/91
Meaning:
The word "ventosa" is a polysemic cognate of "vento" (= "wind"), here meaning a windy location - the windmill wheel on the arms is therefore canting.
