Shield Argent, two windmill wheels Sable rigged Azure, in chief a tiara Gules garnished Or, issuant from base a ridge Sable garnished Or having five peaks. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "PAI PENELA".
Meaning:
The Papal crown is an attribute of St. Sylvester, the local patron saint, also for Pai, which is genitive of the proper name Paius. The wheels are symbolising the rural character and the former windmills, used for the production of corn. The ridge is a canting element, referring to Penela, diminutive of Pena (= rock). It is not referring to a particular local mountain.
