Presentation of Idães

Idães is one of the 12 communes of Felgueiras Municipality not really affected by the 2013 changes; it had 2550 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 7,11 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a grape bunch Or leafed of the same in centre of a lunel Argent, on either chief corner a bee Or, issuant from base a double mount Sable. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "BARROSAS".

Presentation of Barrosas

Barrosas became seat of a municipality in 1836, which was however dissolved already in 1852. restored a bit later but finally dissolved on 31 December 1855 and incorporated into Felgueiras Municipality. It had 6272 inhabitants in 1801 and was a centre of the production of different types of shoes. Barrosas was upgraded to a town (Port.: vila) in 1990, but later, probably in 2013, incorporated into Idães Commune.
