About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

Coat of arms

Shield Purpure with base wavy of Argent and Vert, a paly palm leaf Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ANGRA - SANTA LUZIA".
The base wavy is due to the green colour alluding to the Atlantic. The palm leaf might be an attribute of Sta. Lucia, the local patron saint and name giver of the commune.
