Doruchów commune

Doruchów - rural commune, Ostrzeszów County, Wielkopolskie Voivodship.
Gmina Doruchów is a rural gmina (commune) in Ostrzeszów County, Greater Poland Voivodship, in west-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Doruchów, which lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) east of Ostrzeszów and 136 km (85 mi) south-east of the regional capital Poznań.
Area: 99.33 sq.km (38.4 sq.mi); Population: 5,136 (2006).
An agricultural commune; land under cultivation - 63%; forests - 29%.

First mentioned in 1213 - as an early iron-working center.
1699 - great starvation
1710 - Cholera epidemics
1793 - partition - under Prussian rule
1807 - included in Grand Duchy of Warsaw
1815 - after Congress of Vienna, back in Prussia
1919 - in the aftermath of WW I and Greater Poland Uprising, returned to Poland.
1939-45 - German occupation - severe repressions.

The most remarkable event in the history of Doruchów was the trial of the witches in 1775, where 14 women were burned to death for supposed witchcraft. It was the last and rare trial of this kind in Poland.

Flag adopted on April 27, 2006 (resolution # XXXVI/156/2006).
New Arms adopted in 2008 (exact date not available),

The new Arms were adopted after the objection to the old Arms, showing the stake, were taken into considerations.
The new Arms are showing an ancient defensive settlement and a set of iron working tools.
The flag is a horizontal tri-band of red-white-red with the "Czech"-style triangle at the hoist.
