Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Alvdal was approved just after the [c2j88] appendix top [c2j87] was issued, so it does not appear in it. However, the municipal web site has some words on it (in my translation):
"Alvdal got its municipal arms approved with the royal resolution of 25 November 1988. The arms have a blue background with two slanted uprising silver skis. Helge Ness from Alvdal has drawn the arms."
The explanation of the design continues:
"During digging of drainage in Alvdal in 1906, a well-preserved pair of skis was found. These were the first ski found in marshes in Norway. They are dated 500AD. These are among the oldest skis in Norway and preserved today in the Ski Museum at Holmenkollen.
Alvdal is also proud on its sportsmen winning numerous awards in skiing... "

Your translation is mostly correct, but: They found just one ski, and it was dated as before 500 AD, as far as I can see.
