Coat of Arms

[COA of Rakkestad]

Blazon: Delt av gull og grønt ved kløverbladsnitt.
In English: Per fess trefly or and vert.
Approved by the royal resolution of 11 July 1975 after a drawing by Truls Nygaard. [c2j87]
The arms symbolise that Rakkestad is largly an agricultural region. The two lower leaves are for the old traditions - the farming and forestry, the upper for the newer: industry, trade and crafts.
The upper leaves are reminding to church spires - denoting the three parishes in the municipality, as well as three priests that made particular impression in its history: Østen Bårdsen, Thorkild Aschehoug and Johaqn Aschehoug.
