Overview

Svedasai (Anyksciai District) - on a yellow field with a blue bordure on the free edges between two 8-pointed silver stars the arms of Svedasai: a drowning bell. Flag proportions 10:11, finial is a golden knob.
The arms reflects a local folk tale: during the Reformation times Prince Radvila tried converting the Svedasai parish to Calvinism, but he met with resistance by the local people. Angry at the stubbornness of the commons, Radvila drowned the bell of the local Catholic church in the Alausas Lake. However the bell continued sounding from the deep, supporting the liturgy and strengthening the souls. So Svedasai remained Catholic.
