The Flag

The flag of Satsumasendai is white with symbol. The city was founded on 2004 by merger of city Sendai , the towns of Hiwaki, Iriki, Kedoin and Togo, and villages from Koshikijima Islands: Kamikoshiki, Kashima, Sato and Shimokoshiki.

The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Jan 1st 2005 by Notice No 1 and No 2. The white flag has a green and a blue two color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a combination of a stylized S of Satsumasendai and a form of Sendai River. The green color stands for the countryside , the mountains and a calm of the nature, the blue color for the sea, the river, the lake and the moisture of water. It represents an image of the city which strongly bounds into the bright future.
The flag proportion is 2: 3. The height of the emblem is 3/5 the height of the flag.

The flag of former city of Sendai was blue with mark. The city is now, from 2004, part of city of Satsumasendai. Unfortunately, I don't know where I took the picture.
