The Flag

On a dark blue field, the character Miya of Miyazaki, the outer circle representing peace, the central elements representing union. The yellow in the mark represents both sun and peace.

The city flag was adopted on Sep 21st 1968 by city Notice No 163.
The blue flag is charged with yellow city emblem in the center. The flag proportions are 2:3. The blue stands for sky, sea and the yellow for the scorching sun and peace. The stylized kanji MIYA 宮 of MIYAZAKI is the city emblem.
The outer circle stands for peace, central end for solidarity and the sector form for development of increasing prosperity of the city.

The flag of the former toen of Kiyotake was blue with mark. The town is now, from 2010, part of the city of Miyazaki.
