Only one Club in Italy, AFAIK, the "Yacht Club Italiano", Genoa, is granted the use of a special national ensign. The Club, established in 1879, as "Regio Yacht Club Italiano", was presided in 1935 by His Royal Highness Amedeo di Savoia, and in 1942 "e conferito l'onore ed il diritto di battere la Bandiera della Marina Militare. Diritto revocato dal Capo di Stato Maggiore del Ministero Difesa-Marina nel 1967." Which means they were granted the right and the honor of flying the Italian Naval Military flag, but I have a doubt about the Italian word "revocato". If it means revoked, then the privilege is over since 1967, but later editions of "Lloyd's Register of Shipping" still published the military flag as the Club's ensign. If the privilege was revoked, they can still use the Civil Ensign, that is, with the lion of Venice holding a book, not a sword, and without the naval crown.
