Overview

Pordenone is famous as the birthplace of Odoric of Pordenone (c. 1275-1331), who traveled over land to China in the 1320's. He was beatified in 1755.
Pordenone is at Pordenone Province, Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Modern Coat of Arms

Coat of arms of Pordenone (Italy):
ANCIENT (XIV century): two golden doors open on a blue field.
MODERN (XV century) two golden doors open on the sea. The field has the colors of the Austrian coat of arms, red/white/red, as given by the Emperor to the town at the beginning of the XV century.  Surrounded by a wreath of laurel(?) and oak, and green-white-red ribbon.
FASCIST: the same as the modern with fascist symbol  (fasces in the laurel(?) and oak wreath) on the top in a blue field.
