The current flag was announced on December 9, 2008 in which 300 proposals were submitted and the winner was made by Peruvian Architect Jaime Augusto Botteri Lequernaqu茅, who was awarded $5,000 USD. The flag is explained as follows (original in Spanish): "Designed with the basic colors of the corporate identity - blue, red and white - the winning flag is composed of nine curved horizontal strips, which start from both sides and interleave in the third of the fly side, like the "fingers of a hand," symbolizing union, regional integration, financial support and sustainability. The use of curved forms signifies the dynamism of development and the mobilization of funds." Source:

It seems that the "variant" presented here is the current flag of the organization, based on an updated brand color change. According to this article , there was a logo change in 2010 and I assume that is when the color palette was updated from red/white/blue to green/white/blue. The 2023 brand guide gives the following colors here. However, there is no reason why the colors got changed or any symbolism behind the new colors. So I contend with some photos from Facebook that the flag colors changed when the logo changed.
