The flag is red and green. The green color is the identity of the forest department and this color was introduced to the forest department in the national forest policy formulated in 1988. Red is the identity of the land. It is all marked in gold and conveys the message of forest, air, water, their protection and conservation. Both the tricolor of the country and the flag of the forest department will be hoisted at the forest department office. Apart from this, the flag will be hoisted on the vehicles of Deputy Forest Conservator, Forest Conservator, Chief Conservator of Forests, Upper Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Principal Conservator of Forests. In addition to these posts, the flag is allowed to be hoisted on the table in the room of the Forest Range Officer.

The flag received by the Forest Department has been hoisted on the head of the department. The Forest Department flag is in red and green. The motto of the forest department is 'Vrikshavalli Amha Soyare Vanchare' with the seal on it.
