The Town of Krk (in Italian, Veglia; 5,491 inhabitants according to the 2001 census), is the main settlement on the largest Adriatic island that bears the same name as the town. The island is near to the mainland, and so the town has been maintaining a relatively dense population continuously since the time of Ancient Greeks. Today, the proximity of the Rijeka Airport, which is located on the island, and the bridge connecting the island with the mainland insure prosperity; tourism is the main economic branch.

Flag of Krk

The symbols of Krk are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Krka, adopted on 25 April 1995 by the Town Assembly and published on 22 May 1995 in the County official gazette Službene novine Županije primorsko-goranske, No. 10.
The Town Statutes Statut Grada Krka, adopted on 2 August 2001 by the Town Assembly and published on 14 August 2001 in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 19, describe the coat of arms, the flag and the ceremonial flag.
So do the current Town Statutes Statut Grada Krka, adopted on 14 July 2009 by the Town Assembly and published on 24 July 2009 in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 28.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, red with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.
The Decision describes the flag without mentioning the yellow broder around the coat of arms, but all the flags I have seen in Krk in 2002 and 2003 have the yellow border.

The coat of arms is in oval shape, "Azure an owl argent beaked and membered gules guardant and stantant on a triple mount issuant vert".
The symbol of Krk originates from the Greek times and was used in heraldic form as soon as heraldry reached the region.
The coat of arms is also used in a variant that includes oak and olive branches beneath the shield.

Ceremonial flag of Krk

The ceremonial flag is a red gonfalon with three tails, the middle one longer then the other two, all three ending in a triangular fly, and with a golden fringe along the entire lower edge. In the middle is the coat of arms bordered yellow and above it in two arches the yellow inscription "GRAD KRK".
The ceremonial flag is hoisted on a monumental flag mast on the main square in the old town during the summer season, as observed in July 2002 and 2003.

The burgee of the club is a triangular pennant horizontally divided in blue over white with a blue disk in the middle containing a sylized letter "P" made in the shape of white sails.
