In preparation for the British Arctic Territory becoming an independent
nation - itself largely in response to the rising geopolitical tension in the
Arctic region - a pair of distinctive broad pennants for the BAT Navy were
introduced on 1 April 2025.

Currently, the BAT's only naval squadron consist of two ships, those being
the HMBATS Narwhal, and the HMBATS Beluga.
The broad pendants fly on both
ships per Miles' description, and will continue to do so after independence.

Currently the highest rank in the BAT Navy, a Commodore shall fly a white broad pennant with a red cross throughout (i.e. St George's Cross) and a red polar bear in the canton. Previously a Commodore flew the Royal Navy Commodore's broad pennant.

The Greenland Squadron is a formation of BAT naval ships, responsible for
patrolling the coasts of Greenland, in cooperation with the (Danish)
Joint Arctic
Command. A Captain commanding the Greenland Squadron shall fly a red broad
pennant with a white cross throughout (i.e. Dannebrog) and a white polar bear in
the canton - in other words, reversing the colours of the Commodore's broad
pennant
