Symbols of Carrocera

The flag and arms of Carrocera are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 16 January 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed on 24 January 2002 by the Mayor, and published on 7 February 2002 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 27, p. 2,056 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, horizontally divided into two equal parts serrated of seven pieces, the upper part white and the lower part green.
Coat of arms: Per fess serrated of two pieces, 1a. Argent a sledgehammer sable and a hammer of the same per saltire, 1b. Gules six roundels argent in two pales of three and one in base, 2. Vert a monastery argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The serration could represent the central Leonese mountain range, where Carrocera is located. On the coat of arms, the tools recall mining industry that existed in the 20th century. The seven roundels could represent the seven villages forming the municipality. The monastery represented in the base of the shield must be the Otero de las Dueñas monastery.
