Presentation of Aliaguilla

The municipality of Aliaguilla (659 inhabitants in 2018; 10,380 ha) is located on the border with the Province of Valencia, 120 km south-east of Cuenca and 100 km north-west of Valencia.

Symbols of Aliaguilla

The flag and arms of Aliaguilla are prescribed by a Order No. 156 issued on 3 August 2019 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 3 September 2019 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 174, p. 38,246 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, diagonally divided from the hoist's upper angle to the fly's lower angle.The triangle at hoist, crimson red, the triangle at fly, white. Charged in the center with the coat of arms, in height 2/3 of the hoist.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Argent a bush of spiny broom proper, 2. Or a two-arched bridge proper over waves. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.

The spiny broom (Calicotome spinosa (L.) Link) makes the arms canting, being known as aliaga / aulaga in Spanish.
