The municipality of Santa Cruz de los Cáñamos (546 inhabitants in 2015;
1,772 ha) is located 120 km south-east of Ciudad Real and 80 km south of
Tomelloso.
Santa Cruz de los Cáñamos was first documented in Philip II's Relaciones Topográficas (1575), as Santa Cruz de Montiel, a village depending on Montiel. The village adopted its modern name (for the main crop of the time, hemp, cáñamo) in the middle of the 18th century, when granted the status of villa.

on 27 March 2006 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published
on 10 April 2006 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 75
(2), p. 8,337 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular in proportions 2:3, vertically divided in the middle, the part at hoist, green, the part at fly, yellow, charged in the center with the crowned coat of arms.
The coat of arms of Santa Cruz de los Cáñamos is prescribed by an Order
issued on 27 March 2006 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and
published on 10 April 2006 in the official gazette of Castilla-La
Mancha, No. 75 (2), p. 8,337 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Vert a castle or a chief or charged with a Cross of St. James gules surrounded by two hemp leaves vert. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.
