Flag of Mata de Alcántara

The flag and arms of Mata de Alcántara, adopted on 29 September 1996 by the Municipal Council and validated on 16 July 1997 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 26 September 1997 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 6 November 1997 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 129, pp. 7,676-7,677 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of two equal vertical stripes, at hoist white with a green cross throughout, at fly green.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Azure a church argent, 2. Argent a Cross of Alcántara vert. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
