The municipality of Morcillo (371 inhabitants in 2019; 1,623 ha) is located 70 km north of Cáceres and 15 km north-east of Coria.

Flag of Morcillo

The flag and arms of Morcillo, adopted on 27 September 1991 and 31 July 1992 by the Municipal Council and validated on 26 May and 4 November 1992 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 25 November 1992 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 17 December 1992 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 98, pp. 2,773-2,774 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of a black panel charged with a red saltire outlined in white.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Sable, 2. Argent a St. Andrew's cross gules. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

St. Andrew is Morcillo's patron saint. The St. Andrew parish church, erected close to the cemetery, was built in the 16th century. The emblematic bell-tower was added in the 18th century.
