The Flag

An image of the flag can be seen at GAD Chicán.
It is composed of horizontal stripes of green, white, and yellow. In the center of the white stripe, there are five stars representing the communities that have been part of the parish since its creation; the largest one, which is centered and far from the other stars, represents the parochial center.

However, this flag is not the one in use by the parish's government. Instead, a version without the five stars is used.

Coat of Arms

image from GAD Chicán

The coat of arms is headed by the motto "HIGH AND PROGRESSIVE YOU ARE CHICÁN". Perched on top of the shield is a hawk with its wings open, being a symbol of liberty, pride, dominion, knowledge, and bravery. The shield is divided into four sections, the first presenting the Andean landscape of the parish, the second the Chola of Chicán, the third an image of the central church as a symbol of the Catholic faith, and finally, the importance of agricultural work as sustenance of the population is manifested. The shield is covered by the parochial and cantonal flags; poking out of the staffs are a sugar cane and a corn plant.
