Creuzburg Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, issuant from base a castle Argent with three towers, port Or, windows Sable and roofs Gules, the roof in centre is topped by a Latin crosslet Or.
Meaning:
In 1170 the Landgraves of Thüringen acquired the settlement from the Counts of Orlamünde by exchange. Creuzburg gained city rights in 1213, granted by Count Hermann I of Orlamünde. At least since 1218 there existed besides old town a walled new town. The city belonged to the Grand Duchy of Sachsen-Weimar until 1918.
The arms are canting, displaying a castle (German:Burg) topped by a cross (German: Kreuz). The pattern appeared first on a city seal from the 13th century.

Ebenshausen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, an impending linden Vert, base wavy Azure charged with a chevron Argent.
Meaning:
The linden is chosen as a symbol for the village, as most of the trees in the village are lindens. The base wavy is symbolising the Werra River. The chevron is symbolising the new bridge crossing the river, it is also a canting element for the second part of the name, the chevron is representing the roof of a house.

Mihla Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a sword Or in pale, flanked by a pair of wings Argent, mantle Argent a pair of scales Vert.
Meaning:
The red field displays the family arms of the Lords of Harstall. The kin was first mentioned in the 14th century and acquired Mihla in 1436 and gained also the local cognisance. The Mihla branch died out in 1610. The scales are taken from a village seal of the 19th century. It displayed a wagoner and a pair of scales. The scales are referring to the local court of justice in the Medieval.

Berka Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, on top of a mount issuant Vert a linden Vert trunked Sable, in base superimposed by a stone Or.
Meaning:
The arms are referring to the Medieval Thing, some kind of outdoor court of justice, of Neuenhögen, known since the 13th century. It had been a hill with a linden and an additional stone, called lawstone by Ralf Hartemink, both being insignia of the court.

Shield Azure, an anchor Argent, superimposed in centre by a heart Gules flambant Or, on top by a trinity eye Or.
Meaning:
The arms are a simplification of the arms of an Archbishop of Mainz, displayed at the top of the entrance of the the local castle. After the Lords of Treffurt, evil robber knights, had been defeated in the 14th century, the area became a condominion of the Arcrhbishops, theLandgraves of Thüringen and the Landgraves of Hessen. The charges are symbolising the Christian virtues faith, hope and charity.

Frankenroda Coat of Arms

Shield twice parted per fess, in chief Gules a pair of scales Argent, in centre Argent a fess wavy Azure, in base Sable a fess raguly Or.
Meaning:
The scales are referring to the local court of justice, established in 1509 by the Lords of Hopfgarten in Nazza. The fess wavy is a representation of the Werra River. The village developed by forest clearance in the medieval (German: roden). The fess raguly is symbolising a cut tree.

Meaning:
Pale and column are taken from the arms of the Zenge kin, who acquired the village in 1404 and did a lot for the development of the area. The branches are referring to local forests, especially the Hainich National Park.

Krauthausen Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, hammer and mallet Argent, superimposing a sword Argent hilted Or in pale, in base three billets Or ordered 2:1, dexter flanch Argent, charged with a demi burning nettle Vert couped per pale.
Meaning:
The demi nettle is a differentiation of the family arms of the Lords of Nesselröden, whose family arms displayed a nettle with five leaves. The billets are representing the three settlement cores Pferdsdorf, Spichra and Ütteroda. Hammer and mallet are the symbols of mining. The sword might refer to a former court of justice.

Lauterbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a bend wavy Azure, above left Or a pump well Vert, beneath right Argent a beech branch Vert with five leaves.
Meaning:
The bend wavy is a representation of the Lauter River. The branch is referring to local forests and the Hainich National Park, in which the municipality is located. The pump is a representation of the local village pump, the so-called Sunday Pump. This name is derived from the plague epidemic in 1635 and every Sunday the villagers gathered around the pump to see, who was still alive.

Shield Vert, on top of a mount issuant Or, charged with a fess wavy Azure, a ruined castle Argent, masoned Sable with port and windows of the same and cone roof Gules, in dexter chief an impending inescutcheon Argent, charged with two pitchforks Or in saltire hafted Sable.
Meaning:
The castle is a representation of the local Haineck Castle. The fess wavy is representing the Lempertbach, a creek. The inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Lords of Hopffgarten, who acquired the village in 1513.
