Gunningen Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a carp Argent in bend.
Meaning:
The seals of the village mayor until 1925 displayed a Maltese cross, however not alluding to the Order of St. John but to St. Georgen Monastery instead, which had been the local ruler. The Maltese cross is however different from the cross of St.George and had been thus inappropriate. In 1924 there had been also a seal in use displaying the Württemberg arms. The current pattern was suggested by the State Archive, because the half village was a possession of the Lords of Karpfen (English: carp).

The banner was approved on 21 February 1968 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg, published in GABl 401/1968. The arms were in use since 1925.
